Background

:thinking: Most of the backgrounds that I see in tanks are either blue or black, and I've seen a couple with seascapes (which is what I have now) on them. Has anyone ever heard of or seen a mirror as a backdrop? I was just wondering because I was thinking it would make it a lot easier for me to keep track of my inhabitants. If something dies, I want to know right away so it doesn't spend a few days in some cranny I can't see in the back of my liverock raising my nitrates. :thinking:

A mirror may be helpful to you I suppose...but I'd think it would be rather stressful for the fish. :thinking:

Good point and I was thinking that after 2-3 months algea/coraline etc. would cover it and be hard to see anyways.

Yep, over time I don't think it matters what color the background is since it will be covered with algae unless you scrape it.

iw ould think the fish would see themseleves and FREAK OUT and harm themselves trying to attack their reflection

I didn't think it would matter, since they chase their reflections now anyway. Does everyone's tank get covered in algae in the back? Mine's pretty clean. So I guess the mirror's out then. Oh well, thanks for the input everyone.
