backround

I heard a while ago that rubbing alcohol will make the aquarium backround stay on the back of the tank longer and make it look more vivid. I tried this with an acrylic tank like an idiot and it completley cracked. Since then i bought a 55 gallon glass tank and was wondering if it will eat through glass too. and if there is any benefits to doing this. Any responses are apreciated.

The best way to do it IMO, and I'll be doing it very shortly is to tape up the entire tank before setting it up, and get a good spray paint and paint the back of the tank.

agreed! make sure it's not dusty and then apply it just like car tint. the rubbing alcohol would be good for cleaning both surfaces, but that'll just evaporate in an hour.
