bad algea growth on the glass

How do i get rid of this?We replaced the MH bulbs about 2 weeks ago and now as soon as the lights come on.I get this real bad algea growth on my glass.Like it's covered in a hour.what is causing this and what can i do?I'm scraping atleast 5x a day right now and it's keeping my water all yucky!

When I upgraded to halides I got diatoms growing on the glass pretty fast so I cut down to four hours a day, next week went to five hours, etc. Anyways maybe try cutting down on light for a while.
