bad ballast on 12g nano cube

i tried replacing the lights about 2 months ago and found out it was the wire the attaches to the light. it wasn't getting a good connection so i crimped it down and the lights worked for 2 months. now they are off again and doing anything to the wires doesn't help.
my question is:
where can i get a replacement ballast, or is it easier to replace the whole hood(and cheaper).
i tried the jbj web site and they aren't any help, but i did e-mail them.

i recently had the exact same problem and i got mad too but what i did was open the camopy so the tank can get some light and goto jbjlighting.com and goto the nano cube troubleshooter and call the numbers at the bottum of the troubleshooter and you'll be able to order a new ballast over the. this is exactly what i did i hope nothing bad happens to your tank my lights were off for a whole week and nothing died i was really lucky.

I have a ballast for your 12g nano. I just pulled it out of mine and changed my lighting with a retro fit. if you are interested I'll sell it to for 25.00 I have had it for 2 weeks before changing it. Maybe used for a total of 72 hours. Let me know.

compinov i was wondering if there was a way to upgrade the lighting on my nano cube because 24 watts isn't alot..... so if you know or any one else knows plz help

You can use a retro kit made by custom sea life but they are out of business, (Sold to a different company). I did my retro with a 32 watt kit upgrade. Its a 50/50 set up. 10,000 and ultra actinic side by side. Use the original and a retro to get 57 watts. Plenty enough for the nano 12 gal. I believe you can upgrade by using one from coralife. The retro has to be 15" long 4" wide and 2.5" high to fit. Unless you buy all seperate components. But dont skimp on the ballast. Buy a good one. Anyone feel free to jump in.
