Baffles, Do I need em?

I have another question about my sump. I've decided to do only a sump and no fuge. It is going to be a 20gallon tank. In this I will have a heater, skimmer, powerhead (maybe), and a return pump. Do I need any baffles? If so how many and which way? (Up, down, up) (Down, Up, Down) etc.
