Bakpak skimmer bubble remover

Does anybody know how the bubble remover is supposed to be installed? There are no pictures with the instructions. Is the elbow on the outlet tube supposed to be removed so that the water shoots straight down into the sponge??....or is the bubble remover supposed to lay sideways with the elbow still on? Also, does the sponge lay against the outlet tube or at the other end of the box?

I am pretty sure that it goes on w/ the elbow piece, this way its a tighter fit and wont fall off. However, as far as performance goes, i dont see why it would make that much difference. Do you have just the bubble trap, or the combo box. I use the combo box so it might be a little different.

Thanks for the reply...I got the same info from CPR. It lays horizontal rather than vertical. I just have the bubble remover which does a pretty good job actually. You have the preskimmer also?

Yeah, i thought that preskimming would be better as to help keep the powerhead cleaner a little longer. The only thing that i dont really like about it is that the thing is pretty big. But w/ a black background it isnt as noticeable.
