ball valve on a mag 5 pump

Hi, can I use a ball valve on the output of a mag 5 pump to limit it's output or will this damage the pump? Thanks.

I would not use ball vaves unless I was trying to run more than one thing. If you looking to calm it down then maybe you can redirect the plumbing. That are look into running something else like canister filters or a refugium. I am using ball valves to run my return and my canisters. Worked like a champ.

It really depends on how much you restrict the flow. I have one on my return restricting flow slightly. I haven't had any problems.

You caould always buy a mag 3, and save tha mag 5 forbackup.
