Ballast from hamiltontechnology.com

Has anyone ordered from this company. I'm interested in the vho ballasts. Unassembled it's $55 and assembled for about $110. Not sure about the difference in assembled and unassembled? How are these in terms of price? Thanks.

I have not really heard anything negative to this brand; it is a cheaper alternative to ICE CAP; if you think of yourself or have a freind that you trust to be mechanically inclined, you should go w/ the $55 selection; if not, probably best to order the latter; I would ask them what they mean by "assembled" though; or whether or not ALL parts come w/ the $55;especially the water tight endcaps are very important

Here is the Difference:
Assemebled

Includes Enclosure, Lampcord, Powercord and On/Off Switch. Runs two VHO Fluorescent tubes in the 2'(75w), 3'(95w), or 4'(110w) lengths.
Unassembled

Includes transformer and capacitor for two VHO Fluorescent tubes in 2'(75W), 3'(95W), or 4'(110W) lengths.
So basically the difference is just one has an enclosure and cords and the other is just the ballast in a raw form and you provide the rest.

Also check to see if it is magnetic instead of electronic. I believe this is the main difference between it and the IceCap and would explain the price difference. (between the IceCap and Hamilton ballasts)

actually unassembled does not mean it does not come w/ on/off switches or power cords; 1 other reason we went w/ a differnt brand other than hamilton is that the other brand came w/ the water tite endcaps; which would have been another $20-30 w/ hamilton;the other brand also had URI bulbs at decent prices, so was a case of conveniance & $$$;the unassembled hamilton did have the wiring, the ballast, power cord , on/off switches at the time, though
