I would'nt try to force feed it. Give it plenty of food to pick from and he should start eating. My friend bought 1 and it was a week b4 he started to eat.
A snail ripped open the sac of one at my lfs and the shark came out early, ...still attached to it was the placenta. Looked cool in there, but it didnt make it.

Hi, I've been doing my research on the subject, because I am thinking of getting one myself. I work in an Anheuser Busch park and the aquarists I've talked to say the baby won't eat for the first 2-3 days because it is still utilising the yolk sac's nutrients. They recommend feeding on the third day, small chopped pieces of silversides, shrimp, squid, clams or mussells. The equivalent of 2-3 small silversides a week. Feeding up to three times a week. Also, in about a week or two you may be able to tell the ---. By the pelvic fins, males will have small fingerlike projections called claspers. Although at this age they may be too small to see. Every where I have read says that the "brown banded bamboo shark" (aka chiloscyllium punctatum) and also "white spotted bamboo shark" (aka chiloscyllium plagiosum) will grow to be approx. 40", hope you plan to get a big tank!
Good luck, and keep us posted on how the little guy is doing.
