Banded shark

Against my advice yesterday my friend bought a banded shark to put in his 40 gallon tank i tried to talk him out of it but it was in a 5 gallon at the store so he thought well i can keep it in a 40 gallon for atleast a lil while. I think that was a really bad move but i cant controll wat he does but i do wanna know how long do u think it will last in there he has great filteratin and a clay bottom the shark is very small i think it was born 2 months ago.

The shark should be ok for a few months(how many depends on how much the shark is fed). I had my brownbanded bamboo, which was 6inches when I bought it, in my old 37g for 1-2 months before I moved him into the 180g. I would say he could have lived a good 4-6 months in there ok.
