Bangaii Cardinals

I read that one way to tell is that the difference is the second dorsal fin on the male is longer than the female's dorsal fin and that the female is smaller and stout compared to the male. I've also read that the male will dance for the female and shortly after you will have fry. I had two bangaiis and had to take one back because the larger of the two stressed out the smaller cardinal. If you have a perfect match then you are lucky. I unfortunately have not been able to tell the difference because they look the same to me.

Some additonal info. Males will fight until only the dominant one is left in the tank. If you have more than 2 cardinals and 2 are fighting, more than likely, they're both male. If you are lucky enough to get a breeding pair, the male will carry the eggs. I finally got a breeding pair and with any luck should have cardinals bred within the next week. The male has been carrying the eggs now for 18 days.
