Barnacle and the Brain

Hi All,
Just a quick question form a newbie. I read on a different forum that if Barnacles thrive in my tank then I have very poor water quality. Is this true?
I have one that came on top of my Open Brain. I have had the Brain for over five months now, and it seems to be doing great. In fact all my corals are doing great. When I first got the Brain, I actually the the Barnacle was actually part of the Brain itself, but have recently been schooled up on them.
I test my water at least weekly, and everything seems to be in check.

I will try to get a picture later this evening after lights out. During the day, the Brain s=is to puffed up to see the Barnacle "Fan"
Any insight or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You..

As with most generalities, it is misleading (and rather random, IMO).
Barnacles are filter feeders. So if they survive, there is food for them. Probably also sponges, feather duster worms, etc.
If your corals are doing well, and you don't have an algae problem, then some random comment shouldn't change that. Your ammonia might have a trace amount close to feeding, but otherwise should read 0 unless a less accurate test kit.
