base rock

I already have 60 lbs of lr in my tank, but I was wanting some more, but I wondered if there was any kind of other rock I could use,,,instead of lr....it will all be hid, and I didn't want the cost of lr,,was hoping to use regular rock or something, any ideas?

Just for a little encouragement... this was all base rock, in my tank, 10 mos. ago with the exception of two small pieces of Florida aquaculture rock. Patience is a virtue that should be practiced for just rewards.

Yeah, it was...99 cents a pound, on sale. I'm not talking about the corals and stuff, but check out the coralline growth. Super incredible! Everything everybody talks about here in regards to proper circulation and lighting is true. I read it here and followed their suggestions and this is what happened.

Look for tufta or lace rock, you want something that is very porus.

:yes: Definitely! That tank is beautiful. How long did it take the base rock to season? Did you add it to an established tank, or start the tank with both lr and br? Looks great!
