basic aquascaping question

Sorry if this is a silly question.
It's difficult to see in images, but when you place your LR, if you want to create a "wall" do you lean the rocks against the back wall (of a glass tank) or do you just balance it.

most I have seen just dry stack the rock with a taper to the rear wall and up against it - some people glue the rocks in place or together

Just stack the rocks and make sure they are balanced, shouldn't use the back wall to balance them.
