Similar story with the Magic (to Kobe's). After a late regular season game with the Chicago Bulls,. Jameer Nelson, guard for the Magic told Derrick Rose "see you in the 2nd round." Unfortunately the Orlando Magic were defended in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks. Arthur Triche, public relations vp, something-or-another, had heard Nelson's comment, so for Atlanta's first home game in the 2nd round, Triche left 2 tickets for Nelson at roll call, so he "could see Rose in the 2nd round."

The only reason you're not going to get trashed more for that comment, is that you lost your NBA team to Oklahoma City...
With the plethora of young talented superstars the NBA has, and what is likely going to be a break from the dominance of the 2 storied franchises in the NBA, the Lakers and the Celtics, the only place the NBA is going, is up. To further assert itself as America's #2 sport. International soccer may be gaining some traction here, but MLS isn't going anywhere. No one wants to sit through a match to see it end 1 - 1.

i guess i would have to agree to that. The lakers and celtics are the two most popular teams. I do know people that still watch b-ball w/o the stupid sonics here in the NW. I wouldnt say its growing however. The sport of b-ball was on a downslide for many years here. They dont even have it on the news very much here. Im guessing this must be diffrent where ever ur from! No i dont wanna sit through a soccer game just to see a tie at the end.....honestly i dont even see baseball sticking it out up here...but thats another story!
I was already trashed when my team went to OKLAHOMA...

The reason the Lakers and Celtics are so popular is they are the most successful franchises in NBA history. Both have been blessed with good ownership and management throughout the years but their good fortune can't last forever.
