Even before I lost Hiedi on 4-27-02 we had been discussing finding a new home for our batty girl shes huge over 12' and i just cant stand to see her cooped up even in our 100 gallon,{she is the only fish now}+(1 tiny hermit crab) shes to big to keep any of our large corals, she has to swim side ways to get by!
How can we transport her back to dealer who is excited to have her back! In a huge tub filled with her water?? We live 23 minutes or so from the shop will she stress?? help can we give her traquilizers like fish stores put in bag with some fish for transport???

I had the same problem and had to bring my batfish to the lfs.Mine got about 15in tall in my 125.what a beautiful and peaceful fish, but ate about 25 krills a day.The way I "shipped mine" was I got a 5 gal. pail, rinsed it good, filled it almost full w/ the water from the tank it was in,put clear plastic over top (like for sandwichs)and poke a few holes in it for air..I made sure I was ready to go as soon as I got the fish in the pail, which I had to net because I could'nt get the fish to swim into the pail in the tank.I wuold try to do this on a warm day like the tanks temp, or close anyway...hth

a 12 foot fish!!! Wow that is a HUGE BAT FISH!! Seriously i am very jelious, i have wanted a bta fish for a while but i am not allowed to have one. My "owner" thinks they are ugly. how sad. I would agree witht he bucket, only other thing is that they sell battery opperated airetors for like 9 bucks, that is the only other thing i can think of.
