I just watched Blue Planet - Coral Seas produced by BBC on the Animal Planet HD channel, it was soooo beautiful and informative!
If you haven't already seen the documentary, you can probably catch a re-run on Animal Planet. I highly recommend watching it. It's truly amazing.
After watching it this evening, I looked it up on-line and found a short video on YouTube that takes scenes from the documentary put together with Enigma's 'Respect
' to produce a stunning music video. Here's the link for the YouTube video if you are interested...

I just finished watching it as well, one of the better ones I've seen. Really good film quality.

Since starting this hobby a few months ago, I've been reading about all of these reef creatures and the reef eco-system. It was really interesting seeing all of these these things in there natural habitat. One day, I would love to go scuba diving and see this type of environment in person!

Yep, I thought that part was really interesting too. I had no idea that some coral could do that! I don't know very much about coral yet, but is it common for coral to be aggressive towards other coral? I know they can sometimes sting fish that are bothering them. Are they aggressive towards anemones as well?

You really need HD to really enjoy it. I watched it on my plasma and it looked awesome, my girlfriend had taped it on her regular TV and it wasn't even half as beautiful.

Ya all coral are either defensive/offensive and some are both... mostly towards other coral. An actual reef dosent have sand and is mostly rock and coral built up on dead coral skeletons. Just this morning my milli fell from its spot and was killing my monti! Hopefully the monti recovers and dosent die.
I think a lagoon has sand though....I think an anemone has a more powerful sting and can kill most coral! Never owned a nem though.

I'm looking forward to being able to eventually add coral. I'm just now beginning to read a book about them in preparation. I new I had to consider the compatibility of fish w/other fish and fish w/coral, but I never thought I'd have to take into consideration the compatibility of coral w/other coral.
So nems kill coral.... I had no idea! I would love to eventually have a nem (further in the future, when my tank is mature enough). Now I'm second guessing that decision... If I have to choose one over the other, I'd personally rather have coral.
Perhaps I just need to have more saltwater tanks....hehehe
