Your biggest concern is that he won't continue to get beat up. The tail should heal just fine, when I first added my clownfish I had a problem with a 3 stripped damsel beating up on him and his tail fin was all torn up. His tail healed up fine now. In my case I tried to remove the damsel but he was to smart and quick for me so I eventually gave up and now I don't have any more problems. Of course no everyone may be as lucky as me, so you might want to consider removing which ever fish is picking on him or possibly rearranging your tank a little to give your clown some territory

you clown will need to be eating good to help repair the torn up fins. i too had a 3 striped damsel that was horrible, he was nambed Bull, and he no longer resides in my tank.

i have a moroon clown in my 40 gallon tank and a few times he would randomly get beat up fins. It might have been my coral banded shrimp that gave him once slice, and then since he likes to swim in the current all day they got much more torn up. Im not sure how it started. It had happened two or three times since i got him. I jsut feed him formula one, prime reef, and the eyes of krill that fall off that i use to fed my snowflake. Sometimes ill give him a small piece of squid. But they always heal back. :happyfish
