Before and After pictures

Here's a before picture of our 12g nano. This is before our heater exploded, killed our skunk shrimp, and we had to dump everything into a bucket and start over. Our red algae is also really bad.

Tell me about it ClarkiiClo! We finally got rid of all that purple stuff and turned the rock on its side. It almost looked like we had an erupted volcano inside our tank!

Also notice that my royal gramma is always on the same side of the tank. :D

Thanks! I got that rock from my lfs and paid $45 for it (before I knew about buying online and in Sam-size)! Hey, ClarkiiClo, I'm at work and don't have time to go through the threads, but didn't you have a nitrate problem with your nano? If so, have you been able to correct it? My lfs gave me a sample of TLC and it's supposed to fix that, but my levels were still high this morning. I did about a 1 gallon water change on my way out and I won't know if that helped or not (probably not) until I get home. Any ideas? Thanks!:)

I have no idea why the heater exploded. It was fine one day and then broke the next. I think it was just a cheapy one we got from PetsMart. Also, our pump didn't work quite right after that and we had to replace it as well. The only other problem we've had is that the grate in the top left hand corner gets clogged easily. When that happens there's not much water flow and the back gets pretty empty. It's not good to have a pump and heater running with almost no water, so I have to clean the grate every day when I get home from work. Other than that, I really like our nano. Unfortunately, it's become the "step-child" now that our 75 is up and running. So.......we're going to dump everything in the 75 and put the nano away for now. Good luck if you decide to get one!

Hey guys,
Quick question for ya......
I see that you have some hammer corals and torch corals in with your xenia. (sp?) My LFS tells me that the hammers and torches can and will sting the xenia with their stretched out "feeler" tentacles? Is that true. I have some xenia in my 10G, but am looking for some hammers or torches for my clown to host.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

My xenia was actually growing into my hammer and I never had a problem. My torch was about an inch from my hammer and I didn't have a problem there, either. The only problem I've had is when my alveapora (sp?) was knocked over onto my bubble coral and that just about killed it. I still have my fingers crossed on that one.

Do the hammer and torch corals sting us?
So with your experience, you've haven't had a problem with mixing of your corals. Cool. But whats a "alveapora"? Thanks

You're probably not going to believe this, but my skin is highly allergic to salt water. It gets all red, itchy, and blotchy when I put my arm in the tank. So, my husband is responsible for moving the coral. He has moved both the torch and the hammer on numerous occasions and has never complained of being stung. I'm also attaching a picture of my alveapora. It looked much better before my bubble coral attacked it.

Cool. Thanks for your replies. Now, if I could figure out how to attach pics to SWF.com, that'd be great. I haven't been able to shrink my photo size!!!!!!!!!

I saw a thread a few days ago about how to post a picture. I couldn't figure it out at first, either. I have HP Photo Imaging on my computer. I select a picture and then go to resize. I put in the dimensions I want and then save it as a jpeg file. HTH :notsure:
