Hello all I am going to be starting a tank soon, but I want to get good info before I start,I will be getting False Percula Clowns 2 to be exact they will be in a 55g and I was wondering on a good tank set up for say decorations and what not,is it safe and good to put sand on bottom of tank?and will my clowns thrive well w/o anemone?I was thinking of more rock decoration than anemone and I was wondering if a starfish would be safe in a 55g tank with 2 clowns?
Thanks For Any Advice

Ok in a 55g pers would go nicely. As far as with out an anemone...yup the clowns will be just fine. The sand bed Live Rock thing is a good way to go, and if you only have 2 fish in there you won't need much live rock. Also if you are interested in a star, you should look for some informative threads by Ophuria, or pick up a book. They present their own unique challenge, and you should do plenty of reading on that before you pick one up.

Well cleaner shrim are fun, blood shrimp pr fire shrimp depending on where you buy them. There are also some low light corals that you can look into as far as the clowns hosting insomething like an anemone..say hairy mushrooms, or leather corals. Tak a look around the new hobbyist thread, read up on lighting, Cycling, Deep Sand Beds(DSB's) and Live Rock(LR), that should keep you busy for like a month...J/K but at least a week. Also congrats...and i mean CONGRATS on not wanting to jump right into hard animals and anemones

Awe tyvm for the CONGRATS it's very sweet I've been reading for days about PC and like I said I am not gonna jump to anything that is hard especially being a beginner,I want to know all I can about them before I get them,my hubby is getting them for me for my bday which is the 31st of May,so I have plenty of time to read up on them and learn what is good bad right and wrong it is also why I was searching around the net and found this wonderful site and joined,I figured where else better to learn than from ppl who own PC themselves so it will help me learn like for instance I never new that males could turn themselves into females that just amazes me to no end and I also learned that it's not to wise to mix PC with BLue tangs like in the hole Finding Nemo movie thing,I read that they can be very aggressive as well as a hm pet and I don't want any agressive fish hurting my poor PC.Now what kind of sand is the best to put in with my PC?
Thanks Bunches

Type does not matter that much, it can be a little pricey, like I said check out the new hobbyists forum, it will tell you everything you need to know about sand beds...oh yeah, and welcome to SWF.com
