Bristle worms will sting, some anemones can sting pretty good also. Lots of fish have bards also.

this may sound stupid...but I was kinda wondering more along the lines of it becoming a health issue. I would assume not but just wondering if there is anything out there. Thanks.
I got stung today, still even hurt through some gloves :D Just wasn't paying attention and went to grab a rock that had some sort of coral underneath. Does anyone know what it could be? It is a transparent white color with kind of turquois colored spots.

Also it has to be very hardy seeing that I only have 1 15 watt bulb as of now. 2 65 Watt PCs coming soon :) First thing that I have impulse bought yet and I think I could have made a mistake, I ordered 2 50/50's....is that ok?

I plan on having a lot of zoanthids...is there anything that I should do especially when handling them?

Be especially careful of some zoanthids. There is a strain, I believe it is some of the larger polyp zoanthids that are really poisonous. They release palytoxin when cut or smashed which is a nerve toxin and can make you rather sick. I have heard of a story where someones dog died after it got in contact with some of the poison. Try a search and see if you find anything on it. Wear gloves and you will be ok. HTH

Tight fitting rubber gloves and don't touch your exposed skin after handling them!!
I have very sensitive skin when it comes to stings and poision ivy and such. My right wrist is still has a rash on it from digging out a bunch of LR and LS with bristle worms in it - I did that before Thanksgiving.
To the original question - something white and fairly sturdy hidden under a rock. Sounds like some sort of tube worm. I don't think you were stung so much as pricked??
There is the potential with open wounds in the aquarium to get some sort of rash that causes massive swelling and problems.
Maybesomeone can help remember the name ... there was a thread showing a guy's thumb that got infected specifically from messing around in his tank with an open wound!
