I have had one benggai cardinal in my tank for some time. Today I added a secon which is much larger. How do i tell if one is a female and if one is a male?
They both look the same---Jaw line and color solid stripe in large fin
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Do a search on the reef forum for bangaii sexing. Bang Guy (who raises them) wrote some stuff on how to tell the difference - the key is the jawline. Two males of roughly the same size will pick on each other. From what folks say it is very hard to tell the difference - watch how they behave towards each other and keep on eye on their fins to make sure they are not nipping each other when you aren't looking!!
Good luck
