Berlin Skimmer in sump

I want to put a Berlin Turbo Protein Skimmer in my sump and I think the only one that will work is the hang on type. My sump in not big enough to hold the in the sump model as it says it takes up 7 x14 inches. How do you mount the hand on type on the sump so that you don't have to worry about it flooding your cabinet?
Also, this unit comes with a pump included. Does anyone know the name brand of the pump?
Thanks

ok i just got one and the pump that came with it is made by the same manufacture, Red Sea. so i just got the normal model, and like you, it didn't fit in my sump either, but i just went to work with the pvc and some sealant and no leaks, and skimming like a champ. took probably less than an hour from pulling it out of the box to turning it on, but i had all the pvc in the garage. simple project, good luck., mine turned out ok

Pat,
Did you redo it so that it fit your sump or do you have the skimmer outside the sump. If the skimmer is outside, how did you protect yourself from the cup overflowing?

hey its Pat, im just at Funk's house, so what i did was it has like a little plug at the bottom of the cup, i dont know if it an option, or just made that way, but i have it, so i used it. It also comes with a drain line out of the cup, so i just have it draining into a milk jug. works for me. If you dont have it, i dont know, check it a lot? i am also not pulling a lot of gunk, i had a different skimmer before, but the stuff that im pulling now seems like a lot more concentrated, so that works for me. good luck, if you want any more info, ill gladly give it up.

I have my standard berlin outside my sump but the pump is in the sump. I drilled a hole through the sump ran a line through the sump directly to the skimmer. Works great and solves the problem of space in the sump.

Thanks for the info. I know I'm going to have to put it outside the sump and I was just worried of it flooding my house at some point. I don't have it yet as I'm not sure whether to order the hang on or the regular one. The hang on is about $30 more. I'll make up my mind in a day or so.
Thanks again.

Jimi,
That may be in fact be the case. I've never owned a protein skimmer so I don't know what to expect. I've been wanting one for a long time and after reading about them over and over again, I think I should probably get one now that my tank is over a year old.
I'm starting to get a lot of reddish colored debris on the bottom of my sump that probably should not be there and the skimmer will probably eliminate.
