Berlin Skimmer - What is the right pump?

I just installed a Berlin protein skimmer in my 200 gal tank. I attached a Rio 2100 pump and it seems to be working somewhat fine! I still feel that the skimmer is not working hard enough. My question is this - should I put a bigger pump in it, i.e., 2500 or 3100 without doing damage to the skimmer. Your suggestions are really appreciated!

I think the Rio is probably fine, my berlin came with a Red Sea brand pump that works pretty good(and you can hardly hear it compared to the rio 2500 I'm using as a return pump). I figured it would eliminate the guesswork if I got the pump from the same manufacturer that makes the skimmer.

No, my pump is not a Turbo and neither I bought it new; it came with a tank that I bought a few months ago. I will guess that the skimmer is probably a year or so old. It was working pretty good when I bought the tank BUT I am not quite sure what pump was on it. At any rate, thanks for the info!
One more thing, there is a kit to retrofit a Berlin to a Turbo. I wonder if the retrofit kit is worth the $75.00. What is the real difference!

I had a rio 2500 on mine and it worked great until the pump melted down. I now have a mag 7 on it.
