anybody have any pointers on this? can't get it to make bubbles, if i turn it down it does nothing i turn it up it leaks?

How long do you let it run before you give up? When I was break my skimmer in I let it run for 5 hours before I made any conclusions. Depending on what your bioload is (new tank vs established tank). What model do you have and what type of controls you have for turning it up/down?

the tank is six months old i got a hippo tang,clown,damsel, thats it i guess not much load but i would think it would load from food not eaten.i though it would work right away

For a brand new skimmer it does take a bit to break it in. When did you get it? Also one thing is to keep the air hose unclampped. You want the skimmer to get all of the air it can to create bubbles.
