Contemplating starting a 150-180gal with the following (adding in order)
small school green chromis
2- percula clowns
flameback angel
flamehawk
foxface
purple tang
picasso trigger
........here's where you guys come in:Emperor, Majestic, or Blueface?
I've read emperor's are prone to ich and the other two would rather hide behind rocks.
I find all three stunningly beautiful but I just want a healthy angel that isn't shy.
What do ya think????BTW how would the little hawkfish do in that mix?

My blueface was a great fish. Ate like a pig, pushy with other mates however, but not out and out aggressive. Your list looks good and nothing on there should be bullied. I presently have a majestic with about the same temperament. The blueface and majestic are closely related and in the past were considered difficult to keep long term. I personally think they are a bit hardier than than the emperor. The biggest problem with the first tow is the shyness. Both startle easily and hide alot until well acclimated to your tank. Emps are a bit more outgoing. Given a good size tank, excellent water and a varied diet, any of them should do well. If you want a bulletproof angel, look at the Maculosus, although a larger tank would be in order. For any large angel, go with the biggest tank you can afford. The exception would be the majestic which stays a bit smaller. The larger pomas need huge tanks to keep aggression to a minimum and allow them to grow.

Queen Angelfish are my personal favorite, mine eats everything, krill, pellets, frozen food. I bought her when she was somewhat young so that may have helped. At first she was bullied a little by my triggers, but for being the last fish added, it is impressive that she is now as her name states, the queen of the tank.

OH SORRY lol didn't read your first post, didn't realize the queen wasn't one of your options. Out of those I'd say blueface, basically anything but the emperor. I don't think I've ever seen a very healthy one of those.

thanks for your thoughts guys.

F1shMan, Iwould love to have a Queen, however, I don't want the 200+ gal tank :)
How about the flamehawk? Healthy little guy???I hear they have a great personality.
I had a picasso trigger when I was running salt a couple years ago(Just like puppy).

Yupi1982, I've read Emperor's colors can fade in captivity. What are you feeding your big guy to keep him vibrant?

right now i have f.....ich in the whola tank but he is been batling it for a motnh willy is so strong..
if you feed him well he will get colorful and strong
about feeding him, i strongly recoment spectrum frozen food, sometimes live brine shrimp and pellets.
he eats tons of food, you better watch out because if you feed him too much the breakdown of your enviorment can get messy ...
you should be ok..remember if you diont have a 125 g at least he wont have enogh space to roam around!!
i bought mine for under a 100 but 130 is a good price !!
