Best Clown W/ Anemone

What is the best clown/anemone pair out there? I'm looking for something that has longer tentacles, like the LTA, hence the name. It will be going in a 75G Reef immediately under a 150W HQI 10K. If you guys could pick out the anemone first, then find a clown that will host it that would be great. If I can get the anemone to thrive, the clowns will follow.

I've never seen any clarkii refuse any anemone, seen them in sebae, condy, lta, bta, carpet, and corals such as torch, hammer, frogspawn, etc. They'll host just about anything. Other clowns are pickier. Bo

Got to agree. My clarkii loved my condy, haitian (sp) and an unknown one. He/she has since moved on to fishy heaven and now my seabae is the same. Side note though, its not a gimme that a clown will even take to one, even if its said to be.
Here's a link some charts:

I want one of these three fish, so, let me know if I can. I have a 75G will have a Kole Tang, 2 Firefish, a Coral Beauty, and 2 Mandarins. It also has 225 lbs of LR in the system, with a large fuge attached, also planning on regular additions of LS Activators, Reef Grunge, Miracle Mud, etc, so you do not have to worry about the Mandarins. Let me know if getting a pair of any of these fish would increase the bio-load beyond capacity. I ask because I have heard Maroon Clowns get very large, and should only be housed singly, so is a pair out? Thanks for letting me know. I have it narrowed down to these above and a Percula.

maroons can be pairs, but its hard to pair them, so if you want a pair you should buy a mated pair.
If you buy 2 clarkii's or tomatos, they should be fine, and they will both take to an lta.
The percs are good, except thier natural host anemone is the carpet, and not the lta or bta, and although some peoples clowns have gone in a lta and bta, its a 50/50 chance.

I have heard of clowns not taking to anenome's. Mostly other clowns than Clarki's.
I bought my Clarki with the anenome that he was in at the LFS. He loves the little guy. Always feeding him and just hanging out in him. At night, the clown goes comatose (sp?) in him.

IMO, Clarki's aren't the prettiest clowns, but they have tons of personality. You won't be disappointed.
Good Luck,
Frank

That settles it. Great looking tank ReefFool. I love the moonlighting effect. Well, I'm now adding a pair of Clarkii's to my list. Thanks you guys.

Thanks for the kind words about my tank. Yeah, I love the moonlights too. If I can stay awake till 11pm to enjoy them.
Just a thought if you are getting a pair. Make sure they are captive bred or a specific mated pair. Clarki's can be very aggressive towards other clowns and if one becomes dominant it will eventually kill the other.
You might have already known this, but I thought I would share the advice given to me about clowns.
Good Luck,
Frank

I HAVE TWO CLOWNS ONE HAS JUST ONE STRIPE ON THE FRONT OF HIS FACE,,, HIS VERY MEAN! I HAVE ANOTHER THAT HAS THREE GOLDEN TYPE STRIPES AND HES ALWAYS RUNNING FROM THE OTHER CLOWN... SINCE I ADDED ONE BUBBLE TIP ANEMONE THE ONE STRIPE CLOWN HAS STOPED CHASING THE OTHER CLOWN JUST A LITTLE.... IS A 75gl. AND I DID NOT KNOW THEY FOUGHT LIKE THAT UNTIL I HAD BOUGHT THE SECOND THREE STRIPED CLOWN...
SHOULD I ADD A SECOND BUBBLE TIP ANEMONE OR A FEW MORE ANEMONES... WILL THEY STILL FIGHT IF I PUT AN ANEMONE ON ONE SIDE AND ANOTHER IN THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TANK?????
 THE ONE STRIPE LOOKS JUST LIKE THE FISH ON TOP OF MY POST WITH THE LONG TENTACLE ANEMONE... IS THAT AN ATLANTIC ANEMONE? I THOUGHT THEY DIDNT LIKE ATLANTIC ANEMONES? I HAVE TWO ATLANTIC ANEMONES AND ONE BUBLE TIP, HE ONLY LIKES THE BUBBLE TIP. WHEN I GET PICS I WILL SHOW U!!!!!
ONE MORE QUESTION! HOW DO I OBTAIN SOME AVATARS TO PUT UNDER MY NAME, AND HOW DO I DO IT??? THEY LOOK COOL!!!

Yes, mine is an atlantic long tip anemone. Seems that you are not the only one that has the thought that they don't like atlantic anemones. I have two atlantics in my my tank and he jumps between the two all day.. here he is in the other one.

yeah im gonna try to change it for one that looks alike... I didnt know they didnt get along... should the next one get along? If is a pair they'll get along right? or what? wow that is pretty cool with that atlantic anemone...... have u had the anemone and the clown a while now?

This is what I was told...not known from experience.
Tank raised clowns are more likely to get along in pairs even if they are not a "mated pair" if bought and introduced together.. Mixing types of clowns has been done, but when they get bigger, I have heard stories of them gettin' mean and territorial.

Bacardi.... Yes, I have had the anemones for about a year now and the clown for 8 months. He took to them about a day after being in the tank.
