Hello,
I have a 90 gallon tank and thinking about buying a 48" light for corals. What would be the best light to buy for the least amount of money. I am looking to spend around $200.

For soft corals and some LPS Power compact is the best deal for you. Check E-bay. they usually have 48'' fixtures for half that price.

i spent about 200 on the nova t5 lights and have had coral in my tank for about 2 months now. i started out with some mushrooms, zoos and xenia. they have almost doubled in size. i just got some sps and have put them as high up in the tank as i could. they look good so far.

If you have a canopy then a T5ho retrofit is probably your best option. I'm not sure that $200 would get you much, but what's nice about a retrofit is that you can expand it if you wanted. Start with a 4-bulb which will be fine for softies and some LPS, then add another 4-bulb which would let you keep whatever you wanted.
