I am going to upgrade to 100 gal tank, what type of filter should I get? Is worthwhile to get a wet/dry or just stick with a canister?

depending on what you want,
reef, fowlr fish only or aggressive, woudl make it easier to help with this question, personally in most instances, i woudl say neither but...........
IMO, i like a good natural filter and a skimmer vs any wet dry or canister

I agree save your money on the filter and get 100 pounds of live rock and a deep sand bed.

I am going for a reef setup. So you guys think 100lbs of live rock or so will do the trick?

I'd say reconsider the wet/dry & canister. Look at 1-2 lbs of quality LR per gal...a well set-up DSB of 4"-6"...and either a sump/refugium or simply a refugium...combine those elements with approximately 10x your systems volume in turn over per hr(circulation) and you'd be well on your way to a stable reef system.
