I would say that you would need at least 3 possibly even 4 for a 120. I would say 4 if you want an SPS dominant tank. There is a good article that Acrylic posted about the different LED fixtures.

well for a 4 foot long tank you could easily cut cost down to between $500-$800 for diy fixture pieces/package (assuming you have most of the basic stuff already?), what it really takes is time and patience...

for now if you get some T5's until the time and money come together to build one,, then you could always use them as supplemental...

ahhh that is where you need some Youtube guidance.. my husband is the electronics builder..not I
I know you need Heatsinks, connectors (a soldering iron for the connections) the LEDS of course...the list is long.. look at something like the Rapid LED site to see what kind of package there is..
