best light for 75

i have a 75 fowlr it has the basic light that comes with a tank, now what should i get and how much would it cost? the one i have now is a 40 watt 48 inch

Hi. I am the WRONG person to give you this because I dont know enough about light, but Im 99% sure that for a 75 tank that is NOT a reed, you need between 200-300 watts. Be aware that there are different types of light however. 2 bulbs may be the same wattage, but cover different frequencies of light. More expensive bulbs probably provide a wider range of wavelengths.

like do you want to go with Reef in the near future? like with in 6 months?
if not
Twin Tube(2x40w)48" from All-glass + the existing light should do the job = 120W
if so
Get 2 VHO (depend on your bugget too)+ the existing light for simulate dawn and dusk = 260w
