Best Method of Filtration?

The best filtration for any tank (in my opinion) is:
~1-1.5 pounds of live rock per gallon
high flow (20-40 times turnover)
a refugium on a reverse photo-period growing some sort of macro algae
an appropriate protein skimmer for the given water volume
a regular water change schedule (1% every day, 10% every week, 20-25% every two weeks, 25-30% once a month)

I agree, there is no one way to complete filtration............it takes a couple of different methods and techniques, of course , IMO. It all starts with using ro/di water, live rock and sand. Protein skimming, and a high turn over rate, of at least 10 times. In addition, using filter floss and carbon as needed can only aid in the overall health of your tank. I also incorporate a UV sterlizer, as well as all of the above mentioned. You'll find out that there are many different ways to achive the same goals, have a plan of your own, and select constructive opinions that agree with your goals. This board is one way to fiqure out what you have to do next. Alot of research and reading will help before you make a costly purchase. Good luck.
