I agree, there is no one way to complete filtration............it takes a couple of different methods and techniques, of course , IMO. It all starts with using ro/di water, live rock and sand. Protein skimming, and a high turn over rate, of at least 10 times. In addition, using filter floss and carbon as needed can only aid in the overall health of your tank. I also incorporate a UV sterlizer, as well as all of the above mentioned. You'll find out that there are many different ways to achive the same goals, have a plan of your own, and select constructive opinions that agree with your goals.
