200 or a little more?
REmora Pro,
or Berlin Turbo.
thinking about it, I would have to say to double check the specs on the remora pro, it may be for 75 gallons. So double check before you buy.

Yeah, if your looking for a good Skimmer in that price range I would definitely get a Berlin Turbo or a Berlin Turbo Hang-On, depends on the amount of room in your sump. I have a Berlin Hang-On on my 75G that's hooked up onto the High Turbulence Zone of my fuge run by a Mag7 and it is awesome. Never seen a Skimmer like it.

marine life aquatics, similar design to a berlin, but you arent paying 30% more for the brand name.

For that size display(and if you have a sump) I'd say gather a bit more money & look at the line of EuroReef skimmers...or something like them. Several companies make skimmers that would function much better but you will spend more for them.

I don't know about the Berlin but the remora pro is very good...i have seen it on a friends 75g and it works great...way better than the cpr I have on my 29g. If you get the remora pro try and stay away from the rio pump..get the mag pump for it...

Any difference in skimming between the HOB, in sump, and stand alone units, given all other things equal?

If price isn't an option, what is the best brand of skimmers?
Sorry to butt in on the topic, just kind of curious, as I'm looking to upgrade mine soon.

best would be
stand alone
in sump
then hang ons
in that order, but price is going to be different, and you also have to figure in extra plumbing and such for the others, this is one advantage of HOBs . but, they are not quite as good, so on larger systems, HOBs are not neccessarily the best option.

etss and euroreef are top notch for whoever it was asking about money not an issue skimmers.

I have been a tried and true fan of ETSS for many years now, but after seeing what a Euro-Reef can do, I have changed my loyalties. ER skimmers are truly awesome to see in action.
Also, in sump skimmers always seem to out-perform HOB skimmers.

Thanks Richard and fshhub for that.
Why do in-sump work better? I'm looking for good skimming, but don't have a sump. I have a 29g, and have the space and resources to add one, so how many votes can I get to add like a 10g from Wal-Mart or something? From what I've read here, vote count may be 100% on a sump.
I'll do a search on DIY sumps of this nature...Give Me A Push!!!
TIA

Euro reef has a new line out, the newest one I believe is the ev 5-1 for 200 bucks.
Can't get a better skimmer for that price.
For a hang on skimmer, the remora pro with the mag upgrade hands down.

I would add the sump for the skimmer, and for the added water volume.
The Euro-Reef new skimmer is the ES 5-2 and I have seen it as low as $165.00.

I have a Lifereef HVS2 skimmer, it's a In sump, Standalone, & with
the bracket provided a Hang On unit. Of the 3 skimmers I own a Top Fathom 200, SeaClone 100, the Lifereef is by and far the best.
