Best thing to feed a clown?

We have 2 new clowns and the LFS recommended a flake food with garlic for them.
Is this the best thing to feed them...Last night they would go up to it, sometimes take a nibble, and then spit it out. We figured it might take a few days before they really started eating since they are new to the tank.
What would everyone recommend feeding them?
Thanks!

Flake food should never ever be used for a reef tank as a staple food imo. It is messy, the fish don't like it as much, and take it from me the phosphates JUMP when you use it.
Is it good for the clowns, possibly, but again in my opinion, it isn't good for the tank. Look for a fridge next time you go and get some frozen food. Look for something with lots of variety, you may even want to get multiple foods. I bet they will like it more, you will maintain low phosphates with it, and less will be wasted.
JMHO, take it with 35 ppt of salt.

I have frozen mysis shrimp they get as a treat, lke once every 10-14 days. and every other day they get the sinking pellets, but with all the food I use a large syringe 20G, put a tray from a butter dish on the sand and squirt little amounts of food on the tray for them to eat. I had a problem with algae now I can see what they eat and when they are finished, and nothing is left on the sand. I do use the garlic liquid and zoe as well. Best of all no algae problem! If you want a syringe and are having a problem finding one, I used a new one that was supposed to be used for injecting marinade in a turkey.
Good luck with your clowns!

do you leave the butter dish in the bottom of the tank? Do you feed all of your fish this way? If so do you leave the dish in the same spot of the tank?

i mix it up, marine cuisine, angel food, mysis, krill, formula 1 flake, formula 2 flake. they will either eat it or starve,(atleast in my tank),,, so eventaully they will eat it if they have taken frozen food before.

Try cyclopeeze- all fish like cyclopeeze.
Why is it called cyclopeeze? Is it after the Greek giant, the cyclops? Because plural form of cyclops is cyclopes, which is pronounced like cyclopeeze. I agree, it's great.

I dont know, they have been in the tank for a week as of today. I feed them last night and the would chase after it then back off the mysis shrimp. The flake food they would not even bother and the sinking pellets they would just suck them up and spit them right back out.

CYCLOP-EEZE® are a selectively bred, biologically engineered microorganism which are cultured in a pristine arctic lake. The CYCLOP-EEZE® are a decapod (10 legged) microscopic crustacean that are instantly characterized by their intense blood-orange coloration.
In fact, the CYCLOP-EEZE® contain the highest known concentration of the fundamental and critical biological pigment Astaxanthene, accounting for their striking coloration. Complimenting this incredible pigmentation are previously unknown levels of the Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids (HUFA's) especially those of the famed "omega-3" family. These highest levels of omega-3 HUFA's are essential for larval aquaculture applications and typically exceed forty times (40 X) those obtained from hatching the highest quality Artemia eggs.
The CYCLOP-EEZE® are voraciously consumed by all animals because they are very rich in the attractant Betaine as well as other palatability factors. Experimental test results at leading academic institutions indicate that the CYCLOP-EEZE® are highly stimulatory to the immune systems of most aquatic animals thus leading to greatly improved survival.
