Best Way To Clean Base Rock?

I just got back from my LFS with 23 lbs. of base rock. I got all of their largest pieces (there wasnt many) Anyways, whats the best way to go about cleaning them? I stuck them in the sick and sprayed them with the hottest water I could get. Im gonna take a toothbrush to them later. Do I need to do anything else?

i rinsed mine in water and it worked fine........

I rinsed mine off and then let it cure a bit in saltwater for about 3-4 days and kept hitting it with a power head to blow any thing off.

Just letting them soak for awhile already pulled off a lot of stuff. These pieces are OLD! Ive been going to that LFS for quite some time now, probably a couple of years and their base rock hasnt been touched! I took some pics of them so Ill get them posted tomorrow.
