Beta-Blockers... who's on 'em?

I'm on a fairly high dose of one for migraine prevention. I didn't feel any different at all. I frequently work in the cardiac care unit at a hospital---it is pretty rare that I hear of a side effect of a beta blocker. The most common things I do hear is occassional nausea, diarrhea, insomnia, and fatigue. One of the more serious side effects is low blood pressure. Most of the minor side effects clear up in a few days. If it is anything more than a minor side effect, I would call your doc.

And how did they make you feel when you first went on them?

When I was 22 years old I had a massive heart attack. I was put on a beta-blocker, I don't recall the name...it gave me horrible headaches. I couldn't stand the light and the sound of my own breathing hurt. The doctor took me off of them.

I was put on propanalol in high school for migraines. When I first started them they gave me a doosy of a migraine until I adjusted. After I took them for awhile my toes started going numb and I had decreased circulation in them, so they took me off and tried something else. I don't remember anyother side effects

I've been diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia since 2005. The doctors put my on metoprolol after the first medicine did nothing and I was up to 148 SVT attacks a day. I was really tired all the time while on them but didn't have any more SVT attacks. I haven't been on any meds for it since 2008. Although, that may change depending on what my results are from my 48hr heart monitor.

Ive had this heart thing that I have been tested for many times. Anyway, they tried me on beta blockers and they made me tired and made exercising very difficult. My heart wanted to beat faster due to the exercise but the blockers prevented it and I would tire out fast.
Damn Flower! A massive HA at 22? Dont see that very often.
