Need help quickly, leopard shark was just stung by lion fish, he has a visible hole in his side from the sting. Gill area turning white, rapid breathing, spastic movement. I have been trying to help the shark breath by holding it in front of power head. Need help/ advice/ treatment quickly!

Terry, didn't mean to leave you out in my request (I do realize you are a resident expert in this area) I appreciate your reply.
I am sure the tank is not over crowded. Its a 500 gal, the only fish in it are a baby leopard, bamboo, smooth hound, and volitan. They will all soon be transferred to their 1,600.
The shark has been convulsing for about 1/2 hour. The white gills have been clearing up. I realize I do not want to over stress him, but when he sits still for an extended period of time, I hold him gently and let the water flow through his gills. I could be dead wrong in doing this but it seems to be helping.
Could you clarify a little on your suggested treatment. It is 1:00am here, so a LFS is out of the question and I don't think I have it on hand. Is this somthing I can find at a 24hr drug store or

[hr]
? Possibly with an alternative name?

Novice, if you have not done so already, please check over in the Aggressive Forum. There are many folks over there that have lepords and they may be able to give you some additional advise. Let us know what happens.

Terry and Beth: The shark made it through the night. I posted the full story in the aggressive section. He's breathing and acting normal now, but Im concerned with infection/internal damage. Any recommendations for treatment? Antibiotics maybe?

The wound is about the size of a mosquito bite. Its swollen, and has a red hole in the center. Obviously, I have no way of knowing how deep it is, but that's what worries me.

I hate to give advise on this because I don't know that much about the toxic effects of the lion, but I think I would go ahead and do some garlic soak feeding [garlic has a mild antibiotic to it]. Watch it very closely to see if it starts to heal, or if it starts getting worse. If it gets worse, then you may need to treat the fish with antibiotics.
