beth please help with hypo

i have my main tank at 10.00 because my hospital isnt big enough for all my fish first is this low enough and will this kill my lr and ls last year i did this the same way for 4 weeks and my rocks were fine i have so much more rock now they look fine the colors are great im 10 days into this i dont want to stop half way cause ich will come back and i dont want my rock to diethis is the first i ever heard of rock dying from hypo m tank is running for about 6-7 months im so fusstrated what do i do please help :help:

You absolutely can not do hyposalinity with LR. Did you read the post on hypo in the FAQ Thread? While hyposalinity will not "kill" rocks, because rocks are not alive to begin with, it will kill all the critters and algae, etc., etc., on the LR. Some animals will survive and repopulate, but millions will die off, including whole species of detritovores. Why not just REMOVE the LR when you plan on doing hypo? It is easy to set them up in their own rubbermaid container.
And why no just set up a QT to avoid repeated problem with disease?? This is the only way to handle keeping fish in tanks with inverts and LR.
And what is "10.00"? That is not a legit reading. What are you using to measure salinity?
