i have a 56gallon tank with fish and corals. i am battling ich right now. my buddy is moving so iam buying his 92 gallon tank that is set up and running. he is trading the fish in though cause right now i don't want them. my question is can i move my corals and live rock in his system after i move it in and how long before i should do this with an established system? would i contaminate the new tank by doing this? my plan isto move everything in the 92 but the fish and some base rock and go hypo in the 56. i am getting the 92 tonight.

When I had to give up my tank, I was fortunate enough to be able to follow it for 2 wks afterward to ensure an excellent transition. What I did, and per the advise of Bang Guy, was move the tank, put the sand and LR in the tank but the animals, including inverts, corals and fish, went into a 30 gal square Rubbermaid with my skimmer and extra powerheads. Once the moved tank stabilized, about a wk later, we were able to move the rest in and all went on without hitch and no loss of life either.
