Bigger tank-need help

I currently have a 75 gallon and plan to purchase a 125. Can I use my water and add the difference or is that too much new water. If so what do I do? Can I save some old water like during water changes or will it become stagnated or contaminated without filtration.
Anyway need advice. Thanks in advance. Love this forum, everyone is so helpful

I did the very same thing about 8 months ago. I put the 125 in another location in the room, so moving things was much easier to go slowly, and let the 125 get settled in. If the 75 gallon tank is older, I would suggest that you only use some of the sand, only the top 2/3rds. Move the rock over and leave any unattached coral in the 75. You can use some of the water to help prime the new tank. Good luck.
This was a good move on your part. My 125 is so much easier to take care of---more stable. :joy:

I change out about 5g a week, sometimes more. Once a month I do about 12-15g. Always premix the salt in buckets with at least a air stone or better yet a small powerhead and heater for at least 12 hours, 24 is better.
Use RO water for sure, tap water just has too much cr*p in it. Have you ever looked at a glass of water out of your tap? Not pretty :scared: .

Thanks again and yes. I have a well but all that does is ommit the chlorine. I do buy RO and I just go ahead and buy my saltwater premixed from lfs, by the time you buy salt and spend the time to mix I think it equals out, and lots of time they charge me for fresh anyway.
