Bio Ball or Live Rock?

I'm looking at a new 30 gallon Innovative rimless tank. I noticed it has no bio balls just some foam chambers. The lady at the
fish store said the live rock in the tank will be enough to replace not having bio balls. Question is should I go with BioCube or this new brand of tank? I am upgrading all my stuff from a mature Biocube 14. Thanks pros!

Alot of tanks do not have bioballs...i myself have never used them in my 10sump years of keeping tanks...having live rock and a form of mechanical filtration will more than compensate for the anaerobic bacteria that you will be losing

Bioballs have a reputation as nitrate factories. This is because they are highly aerobic, which favors the initial steps in nitrogen processing, through to nitrates. Elimination of nitrates requires anaerobic bacteria, which do not thrive on bioballs, but find the nooks and crannies of live rock to be an ideal home. Generally speaking, live rock is sufficient for most bioloads.
