Bioballs in a skimmer

I have a HOB skimmer (it has side x side chambers, one for incoming water/bubbles etc and another for outgoing water) I had a prior 10gal system w bioballs in a wetdry. I placed some bioballs in the outgoing chamber of the skimmer...is this a good idea?
My thoughts were that by placing BB's in the skimmer I would have better filtration...any thoughts ideas?

I dont think it would do anything but i could be wrong.
