Actually, I hope your five year old can do MORE than that!!
But coming from a bird it's pretty good - there are some REALLY smart birds out there, has anyone heard of Alex the african grey? He passed away in September 07 but he could count (accurately up to 6 or 10 I think) and differentiate between colours and materials such as wood, metal or plastic as well as do so many other things.
