Biscuit

It was a little more than a year ago when i found Biscuit.
My girlfriend and i were leaving the fort worth zoo when we noticed an animal cage in direct sunlight under someones truck. A german shepard was lying next to the cage witha bowl of water. Inside of the cage was a 5 week old dachsund puppy. No water or food in the cage and it was in the sunlight. The dog looked as if it had thrown up inside the cage. So i decided that this dog would be better off with me. So i rescued him. We named him biscuit.
Biscuit loved to play in the pool....I had always wanted a dog to jump in the pool after me. He was the best dog to walk...always making sure you were safe....Although he wasnt too smart he knew how to roll over for a piece of cheese :)
I leave for school this morning.....when I get home i see my mothers car....she usually does not get home from work until later in the afternoon. I walk in thinking everything is fine. She tells me she had some bad news. Biscuit and my other two dogs got out of the yard (the mowers did not shut the gate well i guess?) Around 10:00 some one hit biscuit in the road. A man found him lying lifeless on the pavement. He checked the tags and brought him here. No one was home so he took the dog across the street to my neighbor. Bill called my mother because he did not want me to come home and see my dog on the front porch.
This was my first dog to ever own myself....he was a good boy and will be missed very much.

aarone, that is so sad.

reminds me of a dog i had, she was a mix breed her name was duchess. my kids loved her she was good (other than eating mattresses)
we went on vacation one year and left her with a friend in another city who had a huge fenced yard. somehow she got out. i called home to see how our pets were doing (we also had a ferret staying with another friend) and the news was broken to me over the phone, she had got loose and got hit by a car. we had to break the news to the girls while we were on vacation. (my kids were little then) that night when i went to sleep (still on vacaton) i felt her laying by my feet.
the awful part was (because she had tags) the dog warden left a note on our door and we had to pay a fine!

thanx guys....
At least i know that he was happier for that year of his life than he would have been with the previous owner.

I beleive that he is in a better place now. He sure would ave loved the pool ithis summer :)
Its just sad that the person wasnt man (or woman) enough to stop and check on the little guy....
I hope they get theirs in the end.
Nicky,
How old is your pug? Is he a talker?

Aarone, sorry to hear that. I had my first Doxie killed by strays, and it bout killed me. I now have 2, a chocolate and a piebald. Doxies are the smartest, most affectionate, loyalist, bravest, and the most stubborn(at times) dogs I've seen. I know you'll miss him.

Im sorry aarone, I know how you feel. I had a dog once, but she died because some idiot left a dog bowl full of antifreeze in the middle of the road. Where Im from its ok to let your dogs out without a leash. Sure enough almost every dog in the nieghborhood got to it.
Sorry again aarone.
