bivalve???

i believe i have this large two shell bivalve. its about 4 inches from root to tip. the lower area of the shell is very thin and seemingly tranparent.
ID please?

I have something similar, although the pic isn't the greatest (sorry), I think it's an oyster. At least that's what mine is. Looks nothing like an oyster that I've ever seen before, but I definitely trust the person who told me what it was.
