anybody know anything about these fish? would i be able to keep it in a 6 gallon aquarium for about 8 months if i got him when he was really small? after that i would put him in my main tank. would he be ok in there with a royal gramma and a bicolor blennie? i know a 6 is kinda stretching it, but i mean if i got him while he was still small and only had him for 5 months he still wouldnt be that big would he? he would probably be in there by himself, or maybe with a very small fish. any help would be great.

also if he is just going to live and be miserable tell me that too. im concerned with his well being. i dont wanna cram some fish in a tank he doesnt belong. thats why im asking. this is actually for my girlfriend. she wants him for her dorm room next year. if he wont be ok in a 6, than would he be ok for those 5 months in the 10 in my dorm room. in either case he will be the only fish, but in a 10 gallon i might add a little blennie or somehting.

Om my good lord! Please don't buy the little fellow. It would be a waste of money on a beautiful and expensive fish. I have mine in my 20 and in 3 weeks it will be moving into my 50 gallon. And if he gets really lucky he'll go in my 180 gallon tank. They need a relatively spacious tank with LOTS of caves. I don't think your tank would support him with that little of room. Not to mention you have a Royal Gramma in there. That is a disaster to happen. Grammas are very territorial towards other Grammas. One of them would be killed. I think the BlackCap would die anyways. Don't put the BalckCap in the 6. I have had mine a little over a week and I wich I could put him in the 50 gallon because he likes to roam through the tank. I'm not saying that you're inhumane but it would be a torture for the fish to live in a 6 gallon. You need a larger tank than a 20 gallon to keep them happy. Thats why I have a new tank cycling do he hads more space. I could go on and on but I think you get the point. Sorry to bring bad news.

dont feel like your bringing me bad news. i asked for an opinion cause i needed one. i appreciatte the response. but i think you misunderstood me a little bit. i have a 37 gallon tank at my house, and will have a 10 gallon tank in my dorm next year. my girlfriend will have a 6. she is the one who really wants one of those and i dont really know anything about htem. i looked at a website which says they need 20. i was hoping if i got a young little one that it would be ok in her 6 or my 10 for about 5 months, then i would put him in my 37. if you have to tell me no, then tell me no. im not looking for reassurance here. im looking for assitance.

You want a good opinion huh? How 'bout NO. You must read up on this kind of fish. You can't have one in a 37 with a Royal Gramma because they will destroy eachother. They are extremely aggressive to fish of their own species. A 6 gallon? A 10 gallon? Whats goin on with that? They need good space and they need quite a few caves. You could only have one good cave in a 6 or 10. MY opinion is it can't be done in either of the 3 tanks.

that was the help i needed. alot of fish are ok in smaller tanks while they are smaller. i didnt know that 2 grammas would kill each other. thats why i asked for help. i dont think you had to be a jerk, i was just asking for help about a fish that i knew nothing about. i thanked you for the original help, but by the way you phrased your response i thought you misunderstood the question. then i reread my post, and it was unclear. so i rephrased it. then i said that you shouldnt feel bad for telling me no, because if thats the answer that should be, then thats what im looking for. i was totally respectful and polite, i dont think you needed to be rude about the whole thing.
