Black Cap Basslet

Ok, so I got this new fish. A Black Cap Basslet. He is a beautiful color but I never get to see him. He is in the rock all day. He seems too scared to come out. He has been in the tank since Monday. I know they like hanging out in the rocks but I assumed he would come out and swim sometimes. Am I just being impatient? I'm worried he won't get enough to eat.

yeah you're impatient... I have a yellow assessor which stays near the rocks but comes out alot to watch me. They'll warm up to you. Does yours swim upside down alot?
if you get mysis near his cave, he'll eat it...
What are the other tankmates and what is your lighting like?

I haven't noticed him swimming upside down. His tank mates are:
Ocellaris Clown
Yellow Wrasse
Six-Line Wrasse
Flame Angel
Neon Goby (tiny)
Scooter Blenny
My lighting is fairly strong as my yellow polyps were storing brown in the stem so I increased it by adding two more 24 watt T5 bulbs for 4 total. Now my polyps are yellow again.

what size tank is this? I can definitely see the sixline and angel pestering him.
It is 55. My angel is pretty mellow. I could see the six-line though, although I have not actually witnessed any mayhem.

I have basically given up on 6-lines. I like their personality, but they just are too aggressive.
Mine actually killed my blackcap basslet. When I first got the basslet, he hid for a few days but then was out all the time. Then a couple months later I started to notice his fins were damaged. Then I would see the 6-line chasing him away at feeding time (and I overfeed).
Now that I dont have the 6-line (unknown stone crab got him) I am thinking about a blackcap again.
On the other side, I love my yellow wrasse. They are non-aggressive and eat the same critters that 6-lines do (flatworms and bristle worms). Also they are friendly with flasher wrasses and other small reef fish.

have you seen a yellow assessor in person? they're pretty hot too, I picked that over a black cap. Then again there is a price difference from what I recall.
