I just picked up a black dog face puffer today..i really like the all black color of it. You dont see too many black fish..it really adds a different look to the tank.He is about 7 inches long and pretty fat and healthy looking..i paid $125 for him here in Brooklyn,NY. Is that a decent price for a black one? I never saw them in a store before so i dont know if i got ripped off or not. but i had to have him so i didnt care. I also saw these really large puffers in this other LFS by me and they were $600. It was dark with light lines all over it..they had like 6 of them. Anyone else have one of the black dogfaces?

Black Dog Face (anthro something???) was my first choice too, but I went with the more common Porky...
Definetly cool fish..
$125 doesn't sound too unreasonable for a 7" "Healthy" Dogface...smaller ones would obviously be cheaper... But around the pricing I was seeing "big" fish for...

There's a store here near Chicago that has a Pure Black Dog Face in a show tank that they took in from someone who had to tear down their tank. I asked what they sell for and their response was that they would prob part with it for around $500-$600. We're talkin no white, pure black around 6-7 inches long.

Well I can't see someone payin $600 for the thing, but I would say $125 is a pretty nice price. Congrats on the find. You should post a pic if you get the time. I've got a pic up of my Guineafowl Puffer in one of my posts, another cool lookin Dog Face.
