Black Emerald Crab?

I had a hitchiker ride into my tank on a bunch of green star polyps. He is as black as night but resembles an emerald crab otherwise (furry legs, shell patterns, etc). Behaviour wise he is also similar, but he is faster and far more timid. Has anyone ever heard of a black emerald crab?
Also today I noticed he has begun attacking a feather duster that through its crown a few days ago. This is nothing like an emerald crab.
Any suggestions?

I HAVE NOT SEEN A BLACK EMERALD CRAB, BUT WE DO HAVE A PINK ONE. WE DID HAVE A COUPLE GREEN EMERALDS, BUT THEY WERE AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS TH ANMONIES, THEY WOULD GRAB THEM AND RUN. THEY WENT BACK TO STORE. BUT THE PINK IS DOING GREAT. NOT AGGESIVE.

I was talking to the man at my lfs and he was describing black emerald crabs. Black as night and still an emerald!

could you post a pic? I would like to see him! How big is this black one? The sea has so many cool things in it I wouldn't question he may be an emerald, or I guess we should change his name to an onyx crab because he's black and not green HA Ha!!!

I'll try to get a pic up as soon as I get the new lights set up on the tank. They come in Wed the 19th, so sometime after that. A problem with the crab is that he is very shy. Unlike the other emerald I have who will come out and munch away at algae, the black one is quick to retreat. I'll get a shot, though. Really cool crab: Jet black with red joints.

wow, I have one of these too. Mine is like a emerald, fuzzy legs, one long pincher, and stays holed up in the live rock. And yes, black as the ace of spades. When I feed the fish all I can see of him is part of his body as he stretches his claw out. I was going to take a pic of him and post it but I can never get enough of him to take one. I have had this one over a year, he doesn't seem to pose a problem though. If anyone knows what this is I'm interested too....

Squidd has one so you might want to start a OT post in the " Equipment & DIY" forum.
To ensure that he will see it use his name in the subject line.
