Black/moon sand

When I set up my new tank (180 gal, ideally), I'm wanting to give it a black background (instead of LFS blue) and black sand. a few questions here:
1) If I get black sand will it still be "live"?
2) If it's not live, then will having LR be enough to cycle the tank?
3) Does anyone see any other problems with having black sand in their tank?
4) If you have a black sand bed, could you post some pics?
5) Where can I get
black sand?
6) Is it cheaper, the same price, or more expensive than white?
At this stage I think it would look great and do well hiding debris from the fish, as well as bring out the color of the fish and inverts in the tank. I've never actually seen a tank with all black sand though, so I'm just going off the image in my mind.
Thanks for your advice/help!!:help:

Do a "search" (this forum) on "Black Sand" ...I've responded a few times with pics and comments...
Should answer all your questions...

if i was you, i would not use black sand because of the fact that it gets so dirty. all the debris that falls off your rock, or just anything in your tank will show up on ur sand. i once had black sand in my 45 and it was good for the first day, then it got dirty and ugly. imo just go with regular white sand because it will look better in the long run:D
